Florida: A World of Natural Beauty Awaits

The Sunshine State has been a prime vacation destination for Americans and international travelers for decades. And that draw only grows stronger! Here, you’ll discover plenty of reasons to plan a Florida adventure whether you want to hit the waves with your own boat, explore pristine natural waterways, lounge on the beach with a drink in hand, or try your hand at deep-sea fishing.

Nature Like Nowhere Else

While Florida might not have mountains like South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, it more than makes up for that with its incredible diversity of options found nowhere else!

  • Florida has over 7,700 lakes.
  • You’ll discover almost 2,300 miles of tidal shoreline.
  • Over 900 world fishing records have been set in Florida’s waters.
  • 11,000 miles of rivers wind their way through the state.
  • Florida is one of the only places in the US to see manatees.
  • You can visit over 175 state parks, plus dozens of state forests, national parks, preserves, and so much more.
  • The Florida Everglades covers 1.5 million acres.

That’s just a sampling of what you’ll discover when you adventure through Florida. At KAI Traveler, our goal is to help you plan the most amazing excursion and get back to nature, whether you’re headed into the Atlantic or the Gulf for fishing, sunning yourself on the beach, or trekking inland to one of the state’s incredible lakes and rivers.

North Florida

North Florida has more in common with Alabama and Georgia than with what most people picture when they imagine “Florida.” While there are hundreds of miles of beach and access to the Gulf and Atlantic, wintertime temperatures can regularly drop into the 20s. Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Destin, and Apalachicola are some of the primary destinations in North Florida.

Central Florida

Central Florida contains a wealth of exploration opportunities. Marion County is home to Silver Springs State Park, the original tourist destination before Disney set up shop. Here, you can explore some of the largest natural springs in North America, see manatees and alligators, and take glass-bottomed boat tours. It’s only a short drive from the springs to Disney in Orlando.

South Florida

It’s hot-hot-hot in South Florida! Explore the Everglades, tour the Naples Botanical Gardens, head south into the Keys, or take in the sights and sounds of Miami. If you’re looking for warm year-round temps, access to the ocean, and plenty of sunshine, this is where you need to be.

The Coasts

Florida boasts around 2,300 miles of tidal shoreline from north to south. You’ll discover the Nature Coast, the Space Coast, the Lost Coast, the Sun Coast, Culture Coast, First Coast, Treasure Coast, Gold Coast, Paradise Coast, and Emerald Coast—just to name a few. Each region offers something different to delight your family.
